Why Bayh Quit - Sylvia Smith

A great read from Sylvia Smith:

If your not-so-wonderful job is a stepping stone to your ideal career, you put up with it because it’ll get you where you really want to be. If your ho-hum occupation is the only way you have to support a family, you suck it up and look for fulfillment elsewhere.

But if your sought-after career is not going to happen in the foreseeable future, and if you have other resources or talents – why hang around in a job you find dissatisfying and even distasteful?

Timid Democrats Build the Rightwing Base

No one knows better than PDA activists that it’s not enough to have a Democratic-majority in Congress or a Democrat in the White House.

Corporate Democrats won’t move our country forward.

When they govern through corporate-approved “reforms” and military escalation, they disorient the liberal and progressive base—while energizing conservatives and setting the stage for the next (even more) rightwing rise of the GOP.

Jeff Cohen still has faith in the essential PDA principle that only a transformed Democratic Party can govern successfully.

It’s not glamorous work to transform a major political party, but it is essential work. As explained in these videos, rightwing activists in our country have shown that it’s possible:

Knack Frontman Succumbs to Cancer

Doug Fieger, lead singer and founder of The Knack, lost his six year battle with cancer today. The 57 year old Detroit native had undergone surgery in 2006 to remove two tumors from his brain.

The Knack had continued to release albums and tour through the mid-2000s but they never replicated the success they enjoyed with their first two albums, "Get the Knack" and "... But the Little Girls Understand."
